Just checking in to let you know we returned safely from our kayaking trip yesterday, in case any of you were worrying! Looking back sat in a comfortable air-conditioned kitchen 24 hours later I can say that we had a great morning. At the time it didn’t always feel that way.
Another week ends and it has been a reasonably quiet one as life gets back to normal in the sandpit. It’s certainly been quieter than the same week last year, I was reminded yesterday by my “timehop” app (great app for you social media users) that yesterday was the anniversary of my “accident” in the compound swimming pool, which resulted in being rushed to hospital (when I say “rushed” I may be exaggerating, Jo recalls it as more of a leisurely drive) and receiving a number of stitches. You can read about the incident on my previous blog here should you be so inclined.
We spent a couple of interesting hours at ADIHEX today. ADIHEX is the Abu Dhabi International Hunting & Equestrian Exhibition, one of the four biggest hunting shows in the world, which has been running for the last few days at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre.
It's been a busy couple of weeks with everyone arriving home; first Jo, Archie and Flossie; and a few days ago, Henry; but we're all back now and ready for year two in Abu Dhabi to start in earnest tomorrow.
Time goes so fast. Following a lovely two weeks in Spain with Jo and the kids, I find myself back in Abu Dhabi embarking on year two of our adventure. Yesterday morning we flew from Malaga to Manchester, then Jo and the kids headed off for a final 11 days of catching up with various people in the UK, and I caught the overnight flight back to the UAE.
As I sit here killing the final hour before my taxi arrives to take me to the airport to fly back to the UK, the UAE Government has just announced that the Moon Sighting Committee (it really exists) has witnessed the Shawwal moon (Shawwal being the tenth month of the lunar Islamic calendar), meaning that Ramadan ends today and the Eid Al Fitr holiday begins tomorrow.
When I switched over to this blog from my previous one, I promised to tell you about my 2014 “quantified life” project. Finally I am getting round to doing just that.
Before I do I just want to note that following my last post the views of my blog increased significantly for a couple of days. Having thought about it I suspect it was because I mentioned “Game of Thrones” which attracted lots of fans expecting something of interest to them. So maybe its a good idea to mention Game of Thrones again to see if I can keep the numbers up. Did I say that in a minute I am going to watch another episode of Game of Thrones? There, that should do it.
